Your bio after a viral video: a checklist for the morning after

The spike is not the win. The win is whether the door you left open still makes sense at 9am with a hangover and a new country in analytics.

A video taking off is a gift with bad manners. It brings people who do not know your in-jokes, your currency, or that the “link in bio” still points at last month’s expired workshop.

Do this once, calmly, the morning after — even if you are still riding the high.

60-minute checklist

  1. Watch the video again as a stranger. What did you actually promise? Is that the first button?
  2. Open the public page on your phone on cellular. If it spins, you are burning the spike.
  3. Read button labels out loud. “Resources” means nothing. “The template from this video” means something.
  4. Kill dead links. 404s after virality feel like a scam.
  5. Check the offer still exists. Calendar, stock, timezone.
  6. Pin a comment that repeats the destination in plain language.
  7. Do not rebuild the whole brand at 2am. Change the first link. Sleep.

What to ignore for 24 hours

New color themes. New tools. A full website. Arguments in comments (except removing genuine danger).

The audience from a spike is colder than your regulars. They need the obvious door.

The day after that

Look at taps, not ego. If 90% hit “my other TikTok,” the video did not want a product — it wanted more of you. Follow with another video, not a guilt trip in the bio.

If a lead magnet won, put a welcome that matches the joke or the pain in the clip. Mismatch is how email lists fill with people who bounce.

FAQ

Should I add a “thanks for coming from TikTok” banner?

Optional. Matching the promise matters more than a badge.

New URL for the viral clip?

Usually no. Same URL, updated first button. Easier to measure. Easier to reuse in the next clip.

How long do I keep the viral offer first?

Until the next campaign, or until analytics say people moved on. Weeks, not hours.
