What to put in TikTok’s website field (if you only get one)

TikTok gives you one external link. Treat it like a door, not a junk drawer. Here is how to choose what goes behind it.

TikTok’s website field is the most expensive empty box on the internet if you ignore it, and the most wasted URL if you dump everything into it.

You get one outbound link. Comments will still say “link in bio.” Your job is to make that click feel inevitable, not like homework.

First: name the job of the next 14 days

Not your five-year brand. The next two weeks.

If you are pushing… The website field should open…
A video series The episode list or the lead magnet you mentioned on camera
A product The product, not a homepage
Bookings The calendar, not “all my links”
A waitlist The form

If you cannot fill that table in one line, the audience cannot either.

Say the URL out loud in the video

The field is easy to miss. In the last three seconds, say the destination in human words: “the recipe card is in my website link.” Then pin a comment with the same sentence.

People who rewatch will look. People who scroll will not hunt.

Do not send them to a homepage

Homepages argue with themselves. A TikTok viewer is still half in the sound of your video. They need the thing you named, above the fold, on a phone, in under a second.

A dedicated link page is fine if the first button is that thing. Twelve equal buttons is how you turn a spike into bounce.

After the spike

Viral traffic is rude. It arrives at 1am from countries you did not plan for. Check, the next morning:

  • Which button actually got taps
  • Whether the page loaded on a mid-range Android
  • Whether the offer still exists (expired calendars kill trust forever)

Keep the same URL for a month when you can. Changing it every video makes it impossible to learn.

A note on tools

You do not need a “TikTok special” product. You need a page that loads fast, tracks the button, and does not stamp someone else’s logo over your name. LinkForge is built for that job. The strategy still comes from you: one promise per video, one matching door.

FAQ

Can I use a Linktree URL in the website field?

Yes. Ask whether that page’s first button is the promise in the video. If not, you are paying for traffic you immediately confuse.

Should the TikTok link match Instagram?

Same URL is usually smarter. Same first offer during a campaign. Consistency beats clever.

What if I sell and also teach?

Pick a season. Teaching month: guide first. Selling week: product first. You can switch; just do not show both as equals on day one of a viral clip.
