A photographer’s Instagram bio that actually books clients

Pretty grids do not book weddings. A bio that names the work, the city, and the next step does. Here is a structure that respects how people hire.

September 13, 20269 minLinkForge Editorial

Someone who likes your feed is not a client yet. They are checking whether you shoot their kind of day, whether you are local enough, and whether contacting you will feel awkward.

Your grid can be art. Your bio has to be logistics with taste.

The three questions they will not DM to ask

  1. Do you shoot this? (weddings / brands / families — pick the lane they saw)
  2. Where? City or travel policy in one phrase
  3. How do we start? Inquiry form, email, or “dates 2027”

If those answers live only in Highlights titled “Q&A” with 14 slides, many people leave.

A bio that sounds like a person

Avoid: “Visual storyteller | Capturing moments | DM for rates ✨”

Try:

Wedding & elopement photographer, Lyon & France.
Quiet days, real light. 2026 dates in the link.

Then the public page, in order:

  1. Check dates / inquiry (the real CTA)
  2. Selected work (one gallery, not five)
  3. Investment (even a range: “weddings from $X”) if you are ready to qualify
  4. Instagram and email as backup, not as the hero

People hire faster when they are not guessing the budget class.

Stop sending them to a homepage maze

A studio site with autoplay video, four menus, and a contact form buried under “journal” is a tax on mobile thumbs. The Instagram visitor is still half in your last Reel.

A single link page that opens on the inquiry is not “less professional.” It is respectful.

What to measure

Not followers. Inquiries per week from that URL. If Reels pop and inquiries do not, the landing is hiding the ask, or the ask is scary (no prices, no next step).

Tools, briefly

Use whatever you already love for galleries. The bio link only has to point at one door. If you want that door to load fast and show which button got tapped, LinkForge is one option among others — the structure above matters more than the logo on the page.

FAQ

Should I put prices in the bio?

A range on the landing page filters the wrong inquiries. The 150-character bio can stay poetic.

Portfolio in the link or on Instagram only?

A dedicated gallery still wins for clients comparing three photographers on a laptop later.

Multiple cities?

Name the home base. “Travel worldwide” without a starting city feels like spam to local couples.
